  Poster Presentation Guidelines

In order to communicate your ideas from your abstract effectively, please take the time to read the following instructions prior to preparing your poster. All poster boards will be located on the top floor of the Mensa Building of the University of Cologne, Zülpicher Strasse. 70. The date and poster board allocated to each poster are shown in the conference program. The poster must be no larger than 1.4m wide x 1.6m high, or it will not be possible for them to be displayed.

Posters should be put up on the correct poster board between 08:00 and 12:30 on the day allocated to its presentation. The materials required to attach your poster to the board will be supplied on the board.

One of the authors of the poster should be present for discussions between 17:30 and 19:00 on the day of presentation. If there will be any time during this period when an author cannot be present, a card should be left indicating when the author will next be present at their poster. The poster hall will remain open until 21:00 each evening.

Posters should be removed between 19:30 and 21:00 on the day of presentation. Any posters remaining at this time will be removed, and may be destroyed.

Please make sure that the title of your poster is the same as that of your abstract, and that you include the names, complete mailing address, telephone number, email address and website are also included. The text should be laid out so that it is readily readable at a distance of 2 m. Suggested font sizes are shown below.

The best posters are those where the message conveyed is clear and understandable without the need for oral explanation, and where methods are presented simply and concisely. Handouts can be very useful, but for safety reasons these must be attached to your board. Any handouts left on the floor will unfortunately have to be removed.

Recommendations for the Preparation of an Effective Poster Presentation
